The Japan Patent Office has released its Status Report 2018, a report compiling the office’s current initiatives and IP-related statistical information.
The report, written in alternating English and Japanese, covers such topics as worldwide trends in IP; the JPO’s efforts to speed up examinations, trials, and appeals; and breakdowns of patent application filings. Regarding the last point, 2017 saw, for the first time in five years, an increase in the number of patent applicants filed in Japan.
