The JPO has announced the revision of the Examination Guidelines for Similar Goods and Services (corresponding to the Nice Classification, 11th Edition, Version 2017) for trademark applications. The new Japanese- and English-language Guidelines will apply to applications submitted on or after January 1, 2017, and will be used by trademark Examiners to examine applications for similarity of goods or services.
